Extraordinary Arcade was formed so that the classic arcade games could be played the way they were meant to be played. There has been a recent interest in the classic arcade games with the many different emulator programs available to replicate the arcade hardware and software. The hard work that went into these projects has been incredible, and with today's technology we are able replicate the games almost 100% accurate to their arcade ancestors.

Each staff member of Extraordinary Arcade played (and still plays) these arcade classics, and participated whole heartedly in the recent boom of classic arcade gaming. The emulation programs we tested worked great, emulating most games 100% arcade perfect, the only thing that stopped us from fully enjoying this walk down memory lane was the controls. The majority of these emulators require that you control the games with a computer keyboard (definitely not what the game designers had in mind when they made the games).

We first decided to build our own cabinet (with no business plans at that time) so that we could play these classics exactly as they were meant to be played. The first project was a custom built stand up arcade unit running the emulator MAME and using authentic arcade controls. The finished product turned out so good (and in many ways superior to commercial arcade game cabinets), it only took a little while before every person that saw it wanted to have their own. We got busy making additional machines learning many valuable lessons about arcade building along the way as we perfected our skills.

The staff of extraordinary arcade is an extremely dedicated and talented group of people lending their skills in carpentry, electronics, graphic design, and more to each project we do. Because our cabinets are targeted towards the home consumer, we focus more on a cabinet built for the home environment. We offer many different options on construction materials, paint, wood veneer, and laminate (Formica) surfaces. We also customize the artwork making sure that the arcade fits both your decor and personality.
